I was born and raised in Long Island, NY and I have always had a love of art and most creative things. I would spend most of my time as a kid looking at the paintings in my social studies textbook and marveling at how amazing the artwork was. As I got older my passion for art continued and I wanted to know more about careers in art and improving my skills. I attended Morgan State University where I received my BA in Fine Art with a concentration in Graphic Design. Later after a stint in the fashion world I became an educator. I always tried to encourage my students to use their imagination. I continued to gain more of an interest in illustration and over the past 10 years or so (a woman never reveals her age).
After illustrating and getting my first children's book "Mother of Many" with Pamela M Tuck published I see more inspiration around me. Currently I live in the Delaware County area of Pennsylvania where I'm constantly drawing and looking for inspiration for future projects.
I use many different mediums, such as watercolors, acrylics, and digital programs. Each idea manifests in its own individual style.
I use everyday things to help inspire my imagination. It could be a moment while I'm running errands or even a poem or song. Anything around me that makes me say "that would make a cool piece".
